FROM ONE AGENT
TO A WORKFORCE
Four weeks ago I had one daily briefing agent. Today I have a 32-agent digital workforce — reconciled, gap-closed, and smoke-tested end to end.

The unified system
1
Session 1 — The daily briefing
A 6:30 AM briefing agent — Quinn, my Chief of Staff on Opus — still running every morning.
2
Session 2 — The personalized layer
An agent layer with baked-in context, brand, and standing rules.
3
Session 3 — The shipped product
Reframe — a rapid-response message-framing tool — deployed live on Vercel.
4
Session 4 — The full workforce
Quinn → strategic assistant → 5 lane-owning directors → ~22 single-purpose sidekicks. Tiered Opus · Sonnet · Haiku so it runs at reasonable cost. Routines trigger-based for v1.0, live crons documented for later.
▍ Biggest win
A repair pass, not a rebuild
The workforce was already ~95% to spec, so the work was closing real gaps without destroying good agents: added a missing handoff-protocol block, codified a Product↔Infra seam in both directors' prompts, and hardened autonomy with a no-production-deploy guardrail. Then the smoke test passed — clean routing, lane discipline held, zero autonomy violations.
“A workforce that looks right on paper but fails the first real task is worse than none.”
▍ Biggest lesson
Scope discipline beats speed
I told the agent to “remove a stale client reference completely.” It paused and flagged the same name living in two systems: stale in my workforce, but a real résumé credential in my separate job-search agents. A blanket sweep would have quietly weakened my materials.
Same string, two systems, opposite right answers.
What I'm building next
Real targets in the initiatives layer — SMB retainer goals, AI curriculum milestones, and workforce-maturation metrics.
Shipping the Quiz-me app through the same build-loop pipeline that got Reframe live.
Letting 90 days of usage data decide what gets promoted or retired — every sidekick logs each run, so the next call comes from data, not opinion.
Four sessions in, the real shift isn't the agents — it's no longer being the bottleneck.
